Despite the current COVID-19 situation, the celebration of the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards will still continue.
The 57th Baeksang Arts Awards will be held on May 13 without any spectators. This year’s award ceremony will be broadcast live via JTBC at 9 PM KST on the same day.
The Baeksang Arts Awards is the one and only comprehensive art awards ceremony that encompasses TV, film, and theater. With professionalism and fairness as the top priority, rigorous screening is conducted to select candidates.
Jury members for each category are commissioned with the recommendation of a group of experts representing TV, film, and theater. In order to refer to various voices in the industry, a preliminary survey of 40 industry experts is conducted prior to the selection of the final candidates.
The screening targets for the TV category are at least four parts of content provided on terrestrial, vertical, cable, OTT, and the web from May 1, 2020 to April 11, 2021. However, works that were excluded due to last year’s candidate screening period were classified as subject for judgement this year.
The film section also targets Korean feature films released in Korea at the same time. The director who made his debut with a feature film within the judging period falls under the New Director Award.
Meanwhile, the criteria for the Rookie Award in both TV and film categories are those with a certain amount of three main and supporting roles in each category, regardless of the year of their debut.
Lastly, the theater category includes Rookie Award, Best Actor and Actress, and Baeksang Theater Award.
The 57th Baeksang Arts Awards will announce the official nominees for each category (television, film, and theater) on April 12 through the official website .
